JJG has a current need for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer in its New Orleans, LA office.

Description
• Ability to manage various types of drainage, general structural, general site design and other non environmental and process civil work.
• Analyze and review survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan work on projects. Travel to job sites to take photographs, field notes and verify site conditions.
• Plan and design systems and structures, following construction and government standards, using design software and drawing tools.
• Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, and material stress factors to determine design specifications.
• Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
• Prepare or present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, or property and right-of-way descriptions.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to other personnel. May serve as lead engineer on the project.
• Performs civil engineering design and prepares construction documents including layout, grading, drainage, utilities, pavement, erosion and sedimentation control.

Requirements
• Louisiana PE required.
• Bachelors degree in Engineering and more than seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience.
• Project Management experience a must; local experience preferred.

Description
• Develops discipline specific (water/wastewater and civil) drawings and 3D models using approved software with some design direction on layout, sections, and details.
• Ensures drawings and models meet project, departmental, and industry standard requirements.
• Receives, understands, and incorporates changes to drawings based on discipline lead mark-ups, edits, comments and/or suggestions.
• Plots and prints drawings as needed and requested by engineers, senior designers, and managers.
• Communicates and coordinates information to/from other engineering disciplines.
• Creates pdf files of drawings.

Requirements
• Associate’s degree from an accredited two-year college or university in Engineering or related field.
• Five + years of progressively responsible design experience in water and/or wastewater treatment plant, collection system and possible minor site civil design experience. (or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job).
• CAD Software experience.

Description
• Assist Project Engineers and Senior Engineers in the Water and Wastewater discipline.
• Assist in writing reports and technical memoranda for owner and regulatory approval.
• Data collection and reduction.
• Model data categorization and data entry.
• Calculation and summary of project design conditions and constraints.
• Compile summary project data and findings suitable for report preparation.
• Assist with the execution of field tests including bench, pilot, and full scale testing of water / wastewater treatment processes.
• Assist with preliminary layout of facilities, structures and infrastructure.

Requirements
• Bachelors degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least one (1) year of related experience.
• Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, Auto-CAD software, CAiCE, GeoPak and/or InRoads software, various types of design software and Microstation software.

You will be responsible for overall management of geotechnical engineering services, including 2 - 4 drill rigs, 5 - 10 Lab Technicians, and 3 - 5 Engineers. As the Manager, you will direct and execute geotechnical project assignments including engineering analysis and report preparation, field exploration, and laboratory services.

The Baton Rouge, LA office of CDM has an opportunity for a wastewater project manager skilled in planning and design as well as in mentoring of junior staff and client management.

As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM's mission by: Maintaining liaison with individuals and units within or outside organization. Acting independently on technical matters pertaining to your specialty field. Visualizing and assuming responsibility for new business development activities within your areas of expertise. Working as a recognized leader of technical and professional staff. Acting as mentor for lower-level employees. Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing a number of large and important projects or a project of major scope and complexity. Working with a few (3 to 5) subordinate supervisors or team leaders (at least one of whom would be at level V). Directing the work of a staff of typically 10 to 20 engineers and technicians. Evaluating progress and results obtained, and recommending major changes to achieve overall objectives. Conceiving, planning, and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity Serving as the technical specialist in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes for an assigned responsibility area such as subject matter, function, type of facility or equipment, or product. Keeping abreast of new methods and developments affecting CDM in order to recommend changes to current programs, or new programs warranted by such developments.

Our backlog of project work includes planning, design and construction administration services for over $180 million in wastewater treatment plant improvements and new pump stations; construction of $140 million in new water treatment plants (one conventional and one membrane plant) currently under design. The engineer hired for this position will participate in all of the aforementioned work.


Job requirements:

10-12 minimum years of experience since B.S. (M.S. preferred). Previous consulting experience in the environmental space is required. Requires the ability and expertise to use advanced techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of water/wastewater engineering, process design, and hydraulic design. Usually performing as a staff advisor and consultant as to a technical specialty, a type of facility or equipment, or a program function.


Job requirements:

7 - 10 minimum years of experience since B.S. (M.S. preferred). Candidates must have prior consulting experience in the environmental space. Geotechnical Engineer

CDM’s geotechnical engineers provide the full range of geotechnical and geo-environmental investigation, design and construction services for foundations, tunnels, dams and subsurface containment systems " applying leading-edge technologies, such as earth-pressure balance and slurry shield tunneling, sequential excavation method tunneling, ground freezing, roller-compacted concrete dams, and the full range of ground improvement techniques.
